Recieve the benefit once you are diagnosed. The money can be used how you see fit. Once you are being treated for cancer you may not be able to work, and this money will supplement your income.

Most often the benefit is used to pay for all the additional bills that occur during cancer treatment. For example, you may need to travel long distances to a cancer clinic and your spouse or loved ones may have to stay in a hotel to be close to you. The benefit could be used to pay fo the hotel, meals, gas, etc. Understand the money is yours but more often than not cancer treatment leads to a great deal of unforseen bills. Not having to worry about these bills is one of the many benefits of having cancer insurance.

If you are self employed or a small business owner, cancer insurance is a must. If you are being treated for six week to a year for cancer then your work time will be compromised. Not only will you not have the time to work, but you may not physically be able to work. Having an extra $50K to $100K would give you the ability to not only pay the rent, but also pay your staff and other bills.
